  • Have you seen the working model of a similar one made by Les Brown of Riverton? Donaghys display it at their stand at the National Field Days, Mystery Creek, Hamilton. They drive it with an electric motor and actually make tiny bales.

  • yes I have but I have not seen it in action since the 57th World Ploughing Championships back in 2010 it is always on display at the 'Edendale Crank-Up Weekend' but not working these day(I guess there are not enough volunteers to operate it)

  • Trouble sometimes folks on the stand simply don't know how to operate it or fix some little problem. I saw that happen at Mystery Creek. City desk mechanics have little idea.

  • The Late Mr Brown also made a model of a Thrashing machine that was on display with it and a model of a McCormick-Deering WD40 to drive it(could never get a good photo of it as it was always surrounded by fascinated Viewers !)they used to sell those little hay bales to help fund other restoration projects it appears that this outfit now belongs to the Southland Steam Club
